Connie had an opportunity to travel to New York which she has never had the chance to do…Over 7 days she walked a lot…travelled on the subway and busses to many sites. Susan Kristoferson, a paper artist from Black Diamond. Susan was there teaching 3 workshops, selling her work, and attending a Paper Decoration Symposium and she asked Connie to come along.
After flying to New Jersey and taking a taxi to Manhattan Susan and Connie went to Dizzy’s Jazz at the Lincoln Centre.

Next day Susan and Connie went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art..Connie attended a Paste Paper Workshop taught by Susan.

While Connie was at the Watson Library she chatted with one of the conservators working on a children’s book.

The third day was spent travelling by subway to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Susan and Connie were joined by Carole and Judy from New Hampshire..

The four went to Moulin Rouge, a musical at the Al Hirshfield theatre…It was amazing…

The fourth day was spent at the American Museum of Natural History. The animals of each country were amazing. As well the dinosaurs but if you know me I wandered in all the pottery and clay exhibits.

That evening we went to Greenwich House Pottery and Gallery where we saw some pottery.

The Fifth day Connie, Carole and Judy toured the Tenement Apartment which showed where immigrants lived in the 1860s.
Then travelled to Centre for Book Arts to attend a Decorative Paper Sale that Susan was attending selling her work. Susan’s work is available at Bluerock Gallery in Black Diamond.
Then Connie stood in line in the rain and toured the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There is so much to see there.


That night was spent at Dizzy’s Jazz.
The Sixth Day was Sunday and we walked over to the Chelsea Flea Market…

On Sunday I attended Susan’s Itajime paper course. Folded paper dipped in ink..This is one of my pieces.

I spent Monday morning at Moma the Museum of Modern Art…Wow My favorite place.There was a huge exhibit of the annimation movie Pinnochio….And then all the other amazing art.

Monday Afternoon I spent at Susan’s Suminagashi Workshop-Marbling paper

And some of the pictures that I took walking around New York, the Empire State Building ,the subway, Time square, radio city music hall and standing in line to go into the met in the rain.

And the last walk we spotted Macy’s Flower Show -the windows and inside were filled with all these amazing displays of flowers.
