Bob’s Motorcycle

Posted on August 22, 2022August 22, 2022 by connielpike

I chose this project with the express purpose of learning some new processes or ideas about things I haven't done before. I have built two other bikes back in the 1970's but were simple builds and mostly bolt together projects. The design of those bikes was the most important part. For this project I chose … Continue reading Bob’s Motorcycle →

Care of Pottery

Posted on January 5, 2022January 6, 2022 by connielpike

Care of Pottery PIKE STUDIOS-CARE OF POTTERY Stoneware and porcelain pottery cooking vessels produce an even heat and are great to cook with; but they do not have the same thermal qualities as metal, Pyrex or Corel and will not withstand thermal shock (subjecting them to an extreme temperature change). I am in NEW YORK! With @susan_kristudio Susan did a paste paper workshop at the Met. We listened to jazz at Dizzy’s. And rode the subway a few times.
Had the vase class on Saturday. A bit of a challenge. Quite a few pieces to put together. And here is the comparison of a glazed and fired vase. 13% shrinkage. Always a surprise how much clay shrinks. #handmadepottery #teaching
Carved this lino and made this lantern. The pattern works great for cutting out areas it will be interesting to see the shadows that the candle makes #ceramics #pottery #handmade#connie
Spoon rests are fun to make. I get to stretch the clay into a spout. They are useful for so many things. #Pottery #throwing #handmade #platters #vases #bowls #mugs #mud #Clay #food #entertaining #coffee #tea #tableware #homeDecore #shoplocal #handmadeisbetter #AlbertaArtist #Canadianartist #ceramicsmonthly #plainsmanclay #thehandmadeparade #modernmaker #handmadeart #handmadeisbest #designer maker #capturemyclay #Hellohandmade #handmade curator #decoration
