Songs to Art April 13-High River United Church 6:00 pm

After a 3 year hiatus on Song 2 Art a new event is scheduled and the date approaching.

The concept is to link song writers with visual artists and either the art inspires a song or the song inspires the art. It’s a great exercise on both sides and fun too….because we then have a Concert/Art Show for the finale.

I’ve created a piece for this show…it’s in the kiln now….cross your fingers that it comes out ok.

Here is the song I had for my challenge

Mandarin Oranges by Natasha Sayer, December, 2023

You can get what you want anytime of the day,

Anytime of the night, anyone, anything

But you can’t recreate, what might happen if you wait

Anticipate what might be coming

Mandarin Oranges by Natasha Sayer, December, 2023

You can get what you want anytime of the day,

Anytime of the night, anyone, anything

But you can’t recreate, what might happen if you wait

Anticipate what might be coming

You can get what you want with a tap on your phone

Delivered to your home in a moment

But I wanna pine, I wanna wait, I wanna stop, hesitate

I wanna wonder if it’s ever gonna happen

I want Mandarin Oranges at Christmas time

I want the northern lights to find me when they’re meant to be mine

I want all the special moment to sneak right up on me

And then I’ll know that they’re really meant to be

Don’t wanna click for the answers before I explore

I want the kids to sit around and have the chance to feel bored

I wanna push myself further than I thought I could go

Don’t want the answers at my fingertips

ā€˜Cause missing all the wonder makes me feel like this

Like everything’s so forced, and everything’s so fake

How can anything be special when it’s right here on your plate

I wanna choose my own adventure, no suggestion from my phone

And what I really need is to get there on my own

I want Mandarin Oranges at Christmas time

I want the northern lights to find me when they’re meant to be mine

I want all the special moment to sneak right up on me

And then I’ll know that they’re really meant to be
